I have reformatted the hard drive in this decoder about half a dozen times now. It works for a little while and then it gives the disk full error, in spite of their being no recordings on the drive. I suspect that the entire system is corrupted.

Can this be sorted out or is it better to just get a new decoder?

The unit is Linux based so you can pull the HDD stick it into a Linux machine, run the testdisk program and do a low level repair. However it sounds like the HDD is FUBAR.

Here is another option.

Thanks Herman. I don't have a Linux machine at the moment, but I might be able to create a virtual one on an old Mac I have. Not sure I have the right screwdrivers to open the decoder and pull out the drive though.
