Sorting your LPs

How do you sort your LPs (vinyls)? Per type of music such as jazz, opera, classical or another better way?

I use this, LPs are stored alphabetically but you can select and search be genre, artist, etc.

I use it on my PC as well as Cellphone. Gone are the days when I used to buy two or more of the same albums, easy to simply check what's stored.

Yeah, all my LPs are loaded onto Discogs but physical sorting is my issue ...

Easiest for me is alphabetical according to first name, I put soundtracks in according to title of the movie.

And then I file them as follows:
New records:
New records (as above)
New records unopened (as above) + “new” 2nd hand records (unplayed/to file as above)
New records Jazz (as above)
New records ECM/ACT (as above)
2nd hand ECM/ ACT (as above)

Second hand/used records:
2nd hand All genres (as above)
2nd hand blues (as above)
2nd hand jazz (as above)

Not a crazy number of records, as of today sitting at 581 records so still quite manageable. Won’t go over 600

That's what is so easy with Music Collector. Sort it anyway you want to in the program - mine are alphabetically - then print it out. Easy then to pack the albums/LPs/CDs as you wish.

I sort mine alphabetically by artist, then subsort according to release date.

I have three sections.
ECM
Jazz
Everything else
All sorted alphabetically by first name.
